How is insurance affecting you?
Household and business budgets continue to carry pressure from rising living and operating costs. Insurance is one part of that picture, but its cost and availability can have wider implications for property maintenance, business continuity, disaster preparedness and recovery.
Across the Greater Whitsundays, these pressures can be compounded by distance, freight and fuel costs, as well as our exposure to cyclones, flooding and other natural hazards.
Regional Development Australia Greater Whitsundays is conducting the Insurance Experience Survey to understand what people and businesses are experiencing now and how insurance conditions may have changed since 2025.
Why your response matters
The 2025 survey established a baseline understanding of insurance affordability and access across the region. Its findings contributed to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s monitoring of the Cyclone Reinsurance Pool and informed broader consideration of insurance conditions across northern Australia.
Repeating the survey allows us to identify changes in premiums, excesses, access to appropriate cover and the broader effect of insurance costs on households, properties and businesses.
Current, reliable regional data gives RDA Greater Whitsundays a stronger foundation for advocacy and helps decision-makers understand what is happening across our region. It also supports the region's broader priorities for liveability, resilience and sustainable economic growth.
