Paul Schembri - Committee Member
Paul has been an active canegrower in the Mackay region for 48 years. He grows around 10,000 tonnes of cane in partnership with his brother and operates three farms just north of Mackay.
Paul has had a long career in Sugar Industry representation spanning 40 years. He is a former Chairman of Mackay CANEGROWERS, Queensland CANEGROWERS and Australian CANEGROWERS. Paul is also a former Vice President of the World Association of Beet and Cane Growers. He has been part of delegations to the UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Brazil, China, Thailand and Indonesia. He is a former director of Queensland Sugar Limited.
Paul is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International in 2015 and was selected as one of Australia’s outstanding young Australians by the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee Trust in 1988.
