Queensland RDA's meet to discuss key issues facing regional areas

Recently representatives from the Queensland RDA Network and the government met in Cairns for a 2 day event to tackle housing, energy, workforce and other pertinent regional issues.

The event was hosted by RDA Tropical North, and we’d like to thank them for hosting us all. From talks about the 2032 Olympics, upgrades to key infrastructure, and the expansion of the Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), we are excited to see the outcomes of this meeting.

Internal RDA business included updates on the need for a Queensland Population Strategy, upcoming delegation to Brisbane, and development of a state-wide RDA prospectus. The network also shared local updates from each region, highlighting diverse initiatives such as leadership programs, housing legacy planning tied to Olympic infrastructure, and digital and freight strategies.

The meeting concluded with a clear commitment to quarterly engagement with the Department of Regional and Rural Development and a unified approach to regional advocacy.
